Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Mosetric collects account registration information (email, name, hashed password) and financial transaction data that you provide through file uploads or authorized API connections (Plaid for bank accounts, Splitwise for shared expenses).

When you upload saved HTML pages from Splitwise or Venmo, transaction descriptions may include names of other people involved in those payments. You should only upload data you are authorized to process. Mosetric does not contact those individuals on your behalf.

When you manually change a transaction's category, we record the original and corrected category, the transaction description, and the time of your change. This data stays linked to your account only and is used to improve categorization within your account.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Mosetric service: parsing, categorizing, storing, and visualizing your transactions within your private account. We do not sell, rent, or share your financial data with third parties for marketing purposes.

API credentials (Plaid access tokens and Splitwise API keys) are encrypted at rest before storage and are used only to sync data you have authorized.

3. Third-Party Services

Mosetric is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Venmo, PayPal, Splitwise, Plaid, or any financial institution. Each provider has its own terms and privacy policies.

  • Plaid:When you link a bank account, Plaid's privacy policy governs data shared through their Link flow. Disconnecting removes the Plaid Item on their side.
  • Splitwise API: An authorized integration when you provide your API key.
  • Splitwise / Venmo HTML uploads: Unofficial user-provided exports, not an endorsed integration. Use at your own discretion.

4. Data Storage & Security

Transaction data is stored in a database with per-user isolation. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. API tokens and keys are encrypted at rest. Uploaded files are processed in memory and are not retained on disk after parsing.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

You may delete all imported transactions from the Import page. Disconnecting Plaid or Splitwise removes API-sourced data for that provider and revokes server-side access where applicable. Settings includes options to delete all financial data or permanently delete your account (password confirmation required).

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA where applicable), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Use the CSV export feature, data deletion controls in Settings, or contact your deployment administrator.
